CPA Marketing Explained

You must have been hearing about CPA Marketing and how many people are making lots of money from it and you might be wondering what exactly is CPA marketing and what these marketers sell.

Well, you are in the right place. Here you will learn everything about CPA Marketing.

What is CPA Marketing?

CPA means cost per action. It is a form of affiliate marketing whereby an affiliate gets customers to perform a particular action for a brand. Such actions include: Taking surveys, sign up, submitting credit card details, paly a game and so on.

Cost per Action can also be called Pay per Lead. When a customer completes any action (lead) as listed above, the affiliate gets a commission.

Unlike the traditional affiliate marketing method, the customers do not really need to make any purchase. With CPA marketing, an affiliate can get from $0.28 t0 $50 depending on the following factors:

- The type of offer
- The CPA Network or Platform
- The Location for the advert.

Types of Offers in CPA Networks

Generally there can be two types of offers in all CPA affiliate networks they include:

Non-Incentive offers:

These are offers which an affiliate must not compel or influence site visitors to perform any action. Action performed by visitors should be done by will.

For this type of offers, CPA network go the extra mile to investigate and track your source of traffic.

Incentive offers:

With this type of offer, affiliates are allowed to influence viewers to perform a particular action. This can be done by placing a reward for any action carried out by the site visitors.

How does CPA Marketing Work?

CPA marketing is made up of 4 categories of people who are the Brand, CPA Network, Affiliates, Customers.
  • A BRAND/BUSINESS submits their offers to CPA NETWORK
  • An AFFILIATE or publisher registered on such platform picks up these offers and promote them to potential CUSTOMERS.
When the Brand submits an offer on a CPA Network, they outline the commission they are willing to pay per customer, and the location where they expect affiliates to promote their offers.

For each offer and affiliate decides to promote, the affiliate gets a unique affiliate link which is used to track leads gotten from the affiliate.

Requirements for Starting CPA Marketing

  • A Website or Blog: This is ideal since many affiliate networks would prefer to add publishers to their network. However, there are some offers that do not need a personal website. You can promote those offers on your social media.
  • Experience: Some CPA networks will go the extra mile to verify if you actually understand how to market their offers. However, there are some networks that are lenient enough to accept beginners.
  • A Computer
  • Uninterrupted access to the internet

How to Make Money with CPA Marketing

  • Get a Website: As stated earlier, you should have a blog at least where you can promote offers. This is the standard prerequisite for most CPA networks. You read about starting and maintaining a blog here.

  • Apply as a Publisher or Affiliate: it is usually free and easy to join apply in any CPA network as an affiliate, after which your application will be review and responds will be sent to you within 1 to 15 working days.
  • Choose an offer to promote: After being accepted into a CPA network, you can choose an offer to promote from your dashboard.

Note: Before you start promoting any offer take careful note of the following
  1. The target location: You need to take this into account because it determines if you are actually going to get paid. For example, you see an offer where you are specifically instructed to promote to residents of the US and instead, you promote that offer to residents of Canada. You won’t be paid for your job.
  2. Type of Action: You should also take note of the type of actions expected from your traffic.
  3. EPC: this stands for Earnings Per Click. This is a ratio that estimates how much other marketers are earning from each click on this offer. Generally an offer with EPC as 40% (0.4) is good enough.
  4. CR: this stands for Conversion Rate. It shows how willing customers will accept to do that particular task.
  • Your Affiliate link: this is the most important it should be shown to you when you click on any offer you have decided to promote.
  • The location, EPC and CR should be shown for every offer in the offer list.
  • Advertise your Link: when you have chosen an offer with good EPC, CR, and the payout, you can now Advertise your link on your website or blog and drive your traffic to perform those tasks.
